The Quake (2018)
The Quake (2018), also known as Skjelvet in its original Norwegian title, is a tense and thrilling natural disaster film that delves into the destruction caused by a massive earthquake. Directed by John Andreas Andersen, the film is a follow-up to The Wave (2015) and continues to explore the terrifying effects of nature’s unpredictable power, focusing on the terrifying potential of seismic activity in Norway.
Set in the beautiful but perilously situated city of Oslo, The Quake tells the story of Kristian Eikjord (played by Kristofer Hivju), a geologist who previously survived a catastrophic tsunami in the first film. In this sequel, Kristian is once again at the center of a crisis when he foresees a devastating earthquake about to hit the capital city. Despite his warnings, the government and the people around him are skeptical of his predictions, dismissing them as the fears of a man traumatized by the past.
As the story unfolds, Kristian must convince his estranged family, including his wife and daughter, to take the threat seriously as the city braces itself for what could be the most powerful earthquake in centuries. The tension builds throughout the film, not only from the impending disaster but also from the emotional strains between Kristian and his loved ones as they struggle to deal with their past and present
